With Thanksgiving around the corner, many of us reflect on the things and people in our lives that we are most thankful for. Here at Peachjar, we've been thinking a lot about how parents play such an important role in their child's life. What may seem like the smallest contribution can make such a significant impact. We asked Peachjar staff members what makes them so thankful for their parents, and the responses were too heart-warming to not share!
I am thankful for my mom for millions of reasons. However, if I had to pick a few, giving me life, instilling in me a love of travel and adventure, paying for my college tuition on a single parent budget, and most importantly, teaching me unconditional love and how to apply it.
My parents moved the entire family to the other side of the world to give us opportunities we would not have been able to take advantage of in Taiwan.
I am thankful for my mother. She took the role of a mother & a father and raised three girls all on her own.
I am grateful to my parents because they always made me believe that if I worked my hardest, I could achieve anything. Mom came to my elementary school to ask for harder curriculum because she didn't think we were being pushed. Dad helped me negotiate my salary early in my career, pushing me to demand equal pay/what I'm worth. Both came to every single track meet and basketball game, and Dad coached my basketball teams. They were always there, in spite of a rough divorce, and they continue to be there, even if only in the back of my mind, encouraging me never to give up, and always to be my best.
My mom has 10 kids, 23 grandkids, and still finds time for each and every one of us.
My parents have always been my best teammates! As a kid, my parents always reminded me that they're on my team, no matter what. As an adult, they are two of my best friends and confidants, and we're still the strongest teammates!
I've always known my parents to be incredibly hardworking and determined no matter what challenges they faced. Many years ago, they came to America in hopes of a better life for me and my three siblings. They started with nothing and had to work endless hours to provide us with the comfortable life we had growing up; a lifestyle they did not have themselves as kids. My parents are the most selfless people I know and I am so grateful for their sacrifices and unconditional love. Thank you Mom and Dad!
My parents put all 5 of us through undergrad and made sure we were able to focus on school without having to worry about bills or anything else!
My parents came over here with nothing, literally NOTHING during the Vietnam war. They had to restart their lives, learn a new language, a new culture and had to get into the workforce. They both made tons of sacrifices and worked super late hours - yet I was still able to go to one of the best districts in the country and play all the sports I wanted. My parents had to take extra time off to take my sister and I to tutoring, piano, football, class and work. Yeah, I'd say I'm lucky and thankful!
I am thankful that my parents always pushed me to be my best. They never allowed me to quit or give up on something that I started. It allowed me to understand what true commitment and dedication really are.
