Jump into Summer with June Engagement

Summer break is finally here! For students and families in your community, summer is about learning outside of the classroom—whether that’s learning through activities, reading, or exploring places near or far from home. This month’s engagement ideas highlight learning outside of the classroom and having tons of fun in the process! 

Amidst the fun of summer is some communications housekeeping to prepare for next school year. The best place to start is by evaluating this past year for what went to plan and what did not. Compile feedback from your community, your district, and your team and use that to set high-level engagement goals for next year while the information is still fresh in your mind. 

June celebrates National Fruit and Vegetable, Great Outdoors, Pride, and Zoo and Aquarium months all month long! This is a great excuse to explore and learn some new recipes. Consider hosting a nature walk in a nearby park or a kid-friendly cooking class to learn more about in-season fruits and veggies in a fun way! You can also compile recipes via social media and send them out to your district’s families to try on their own. Families could come together for a community picnic on June 18 to celebrate International Picnic Day.

Also celebrated this month are important environmentally and historically significant holidays in World Environment Day, World Oceans Day, and Juneteenth. When you share resources about them, families and students can learn more about how these days impact our world today and how we can plan for future impact. Social Media Day celebrates how social media brings the world together globally. Take an active part in this day by engaging on social media with your community!
