On this episode of Peachjar Extra Credit, Matt was in Everett, WA to meet with the folks at Everett Rowing to learn more about how they upload their values of leadership, belonging, and excellence.
Everett Rowing is recognized in Pacific Northwest and nationally as a competitive and inclusive leader in the sport of rowing. They seek to lead with integrity and heart, building trusting relationships that inspire and support teammates and partners to create impact far beyond their boathouse, on and off the water. They believe anyone can row, and we intentionally build a space where everyone, no matter their background, feels they belong. They strive to bring our best to every stroke, every practice, and every interaction, advancing with integrity, purpose, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
"I feel like Everett Rowing is a little world and I think learning the life lessons I have here really helps me to translate that into the rest of my life because it’s everything you would need to know for the real world," said an Everett Rowing student. "You know, being independent, doing what you need to do, working on a team, learning how to push yourself and push your team, working with people you love and you don’t love and still being one whole group. I think especially this last year, I’ve really learned that it’s the people that bring me back to Everett."
"The sport and culture is what I think brought me in and what kept me here was I think not so much the sport itself but Everett Rowing just being a great community," said an Everett Rowing Coach. "It’s like a family, everyone works hard, everyone supports each other, cheers for each other and it’s just a comfortable place to be. I think I never felt like I really fit in somewhere until I found Everett Rowing and I hear that a lot from the athletes which is awesome."
