As a nonprofit organization in the Cincinnati area, the Academy of Cinematic Arts is dedicated to providing year-round programming focusing on the cinematic arts for youth ages 8-19. The Academy relies on partnerships and innovative methods to spread the word about their unique programs. One such example is their studio space in Bethany Baptist Church. They aren’t affiliated with the church but are allowed by the church to run their programs there. Another partnership for them has been Peachjar, which allows them to effectively promote their programs and connect with parents and students in a whole new way.
When asked about how they found out about Peachjar, Executive Director Ann Brinkmann shared, "The pastor at Bethany Baptist Church actually told me about Peachjar because they use it to advertise a number of their religious events." This initial introduction to Peachjar opened up a world of possibilities for the Academy of Cinematic Arts, allowing them to effectively promote their programs and resources to a wider audience.
The academy offers a diverse range of programs, including after-school programs, summer camps, semester courses, and film challenges, all aimed at teaching kids the art of storytelling through the cinematic arts. Peachjar has played a pivotal role in helping the Academy reach their target audience and spread the word about their unique offerings. "It's hard by word of mouth to get it out there. You know it used to be that you'd do press releases. Well, nobody reads those anymore. Parents don't read those. So, how do you get to this digital era? How do you get your information out to parents? And it was a game changer for us when we discovered it," said Brinkmann.
Lean Efficiency
The convenience and effectiveness of Peachjar's platform has made it the Academy's go-to method of advertising. "That's how people are finding out about us because we put our flyer up with links that they can register right away for our programs. There's links for them to find out more about our program. And most of our summer camps, I would say probably 75%-80% have all come through all because of Peachjar," said Brinkmann.
By reaching parents of students in elementary grades through Peachjar, the Academy has been able to attract a new demographic and increase participation in their programs."We were kind of shocked at first. Because we were typically more of the junior high, high school and Peachjar has really opened us up to that whole younger group," shared Brinkmann.
Peachjar has proven to be the most effective for the Academy of Cinematic Arts to reach parents. "It's been our best way of advertising and our best benefit to use," said Brinkmann. The convenience and accessibility of Peachjar has allowed the Academy to easily promote their programs, connect with parents and students, and ultimately expand their reach in the Cincinnati area and beyond.
