The Sycamore School Loves Learning

On this episode of Peachjar Extra Credit, Matt visited and spoke with Karyn Ewart, Founder and Head of The Sycamore School, to learn how The Sycamore School helps children cultivate intellectual curiosity, independent thought, and a love of learning.

The Sycamore School was founded in 2017 with a mission to reimagine what school could be. They provide a dynamic, nurturing, and personalized education that inspires children to have a passion for learning, self-discovery, and connection to the community. Their goal is to cultivate engaged, independent lifelong learners who can think critically and apply their knowledge to real-world experiences to achieve personal success and contribute positively to their community.

"I saw a need in our community to serve kids who were falling through the cracks whose needs weren't being addressed in a mainstream school setting," said Karyn. "I really wanted to build in socio-emotional learning alongside academic learning and then found out very quickly, or kind of already knew, that many kids really don't have good executive functioning skills. So you've got your socio-emotional learning, your executive functioning skills, and your academic skills all woven together across classes."
